Kenya: Masai Mara Safari

Savor the highlights of Africa's greatest wildlife reserves with a game drive through Lake Nakuru with its beautiful flamingo-lined shores and a drive to admire majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. Visit the great plains at Masai Mara National Reserve, Famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration, fascinating prides of lion and the warm, welcoming native population, guests will explore an ecosystem that hosts over 95 species of mammals and 570 recorded species of birds.

Day 1 - Depart North America

Day 2 - Arrive Nairobi

Arrive to Nairobi, Kenya, where you are met and escorted to your hotel – JACARANDA HOTEL. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 - Nairobi / Lake Nakuru drive

Travel across the ‘breadbasket’ of Kenya, before arriving at Lake Nakuru catching your first glimpse of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The waters here are often colored with a shimmering pink, from thousands of beautiful flamingos lining its shores. Afternoon game drive in Nakuru National Park. Overnight at LAKE NAKURU SOPA LODGE. Day 4 - Lake Nakuru / Masai Mara National Reserve drive

Leaving the Rift encampment and traveling towards Kenya’s fertile highlands, reaching the Masai Mara mid-day. Afternoon game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight at MARA SOPA LODGE. (BLD)

Day 5 - Masai Mara National Reserve

We may encounter prides of lions, gatherings of hippo, and vast herds of wildebeest, zebra and antelope on morning and afternoon game drives. Overnight at the lodge. (BLD)

Day 6 - Masai Mara National Reserve / Nairobi drive

Leaving the Masai Mara, travel to Nairobi, arriving by midday. A Day-Use room is provided before you transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (B)

Approximate Departure time: 08:30 – 09:00 or 14:00 – 14:30

Approximate time of return to hotel: 12:30hrs or 18:00hrs

Follow in the footsteps of Karen Blixen as you travel towards the Ngong Hills, you feel swept immediately onto the film set of Out of Africa the moment you arrive. The old colonial farmhouse is simple, housing a few items that Karen Blixen chose and once enjoyed herself. There are also the colorful gardens to explore, where several old coffee machines have laid untouched for decades. From here visit the Giraffe Centre, where the highly endangered Rothschild giraffe lives in peace. With an elevated viewing-cum-feeding platform, this tour is wonderful for children.

The Carnivore Restaurant is one of Africa’s greatest eating experiences, made famous for its succulent steaks, barbecue dishes and great African hospitality. A visit here is an excellent complement to a holiday and makes a perfect spot for welcome or farewell meals. Delicious barbequed and skewered vegetarian meals are also available.

Pampa is a haven for meat lovers and vegetarians alike,it encompasses an authentic Brazilian rotisserie steak house. The meats are grilled on spits above a charcoal keeping the characteristics taste of each cut and served in succession to each diner individually right at their table. Pampa house style is known as ‘Rodizio’ (eat as much as you like) and embraces a variety of different cuts of beef, chicken, goat, pork, lamb ,fish; exotic meats such as crocodile, camel, guinea fowl ,turkey and ostrich. In addition diners can choose from more than 16 different kinds of salads including, hot and cold vegetables, cold cuts at their leisure from salad bar.

To dine at Haandi is to experience arguably the very best available anywhere in the world. Haandi specialises in North Indian Frontier cuisine and true to the spirit of the original concept, the masalas are freshly-prepared daily, all the dishes are cooked to order and absolutely everything you eat is created on the premises. Haandi is located in Westlands, convenient to those returning from safari and the other on Mombasa road, for those connecting to their onward flight from Jomo Kenyatta airport.
